This is the first education policy of the 21st Century. It replaces the 34-year-old NPE (National Policy on Education), 1986.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. K. Kasturirangan, former ISRO chairman and the current chairman of NIIT University, is the architect and leader behind the creation of the new policy.<\/p>\n<p>NEP 2020 will bring in many significant changes and listed below are some of the highlights.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Multiple Entry\/Exit allowed in Higher Education with appropriate certification.<\/li>\n<li>A new 5+3+3+4 curriculum which includes 12 years of Schooling with 3 years of Pre-Schooling.<\/li>\n<li>6% of GDP will now be allocated to Education.<\/li>\n<li>Vocational Training and Internships from Class 6 onwards.<\/li>\n<li>Reduction of the divide between streams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NEP brings about a holistic approach to learning that suits the needs of the 21st century. It reduces the current limitations and empowers each student to be unique.
