There\u2019s a very specific kind of confusion that hits when you\u2019re a third-year engineering student inching toward fourth year.<\/p>\n
You\u2019re not a fresher anymore. You don\u2019t get lost looking for classrooms or get confused between AC-1 and AC-2. You\u2019ve stopped asking \u201cwhat is this subject even about?\u201d (alteast most of the time). You\u2019ve survived enough exams, submissions, and breakdowns to know that you\u2019ll probably survive the next one too.<\/p>\n
But at the same time, you\u2019re not quite \u201cplaced, sorted, and settled\u201d either.<\/p>\n
You\u2019re in this weird in-between phase.<\/p>\n
You start realizing things you didn\u2019t in the first year. Like how no one really has it all figured out. Like how CGPA matters but skills matter more. Like how that one random thing you tried out of curiosity might actually turn into something real.<\/p>\n
You open LinkedIn more often now. Not for scrolling, but for mild panic<\/em>. Everyone seems to be doing something, internships, projects, startups, certifications and you\u2019re just sitting there thinking, \u201cOkay, I should probably do something too.\u201d<\/p>\n And you do. Slowly.<\/p>\n You try things. Some stick, most don\u2019t. You start a course, leave it halfway, pick up another only to leave it halfway as well. You build something small, break it, fix it, feel weirdly proud. You begin to understand that learning isn\u2019t a straight line. It\u2019s more like opening 27 tabs at 3 AM and hoping at least 3 make sense.<\/p>\n Group projects are different now. You care a little more. Not just about grades, but about actually knowing what you\u2019re doing. Because suddenly, \u201cthis might be useful later\u201d doesn\u2019t feel like a joke anymore.<\/p>\n There\u2019s also this quiet shift from studying to figuring things out<\/em>. You\u2019re no longer just preparing for exams, you\u2019re preparing for whatever comes next.<\/p>\n And that\u2019s the scary part. But also the exciting part.<\/p>\n Because somewhere between all the confusion, procrastination, random bursts of motivation, and late-night \u201cI need to fix my life\u201d moments, you start to realise that you are actually growing.<\/p>\n Not perfectly. Not consistently. But definitely, undeniably, growing. And maybe that\u2019s what the end of third year really feels like. Not the last step before you complete your degree. Just the moment you finally start taking it seriously (in your own slightly chaotic way).
