Inauguration of Sugata Mitra Library Section

NIIT University inaugurated the Sugata Mitra Library Section on March 6, 2025 marking a significant expansion of its academic and research infrastructure. The section is named in honour of Prof. Sugata Mitra, an internationally recognized educationist best known for his work on self-organized learning environments.

The event began at 11:00 AM with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by university leadership, faculty members, and students. Prof. Sugata Mitra was present as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering, where his contributions to education, particularly in the areas of cognitive science and educational technology, were acknowledged.

The newly inaugurated section offers a wide array of books, journals, and digital resources covering emerging disciplines such as education technology, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and independent learning. Designed with both individual and collaborative study in mind, the space includes updated study zones and digital access points to support a variety of learning styles and academic needs.

The creation of this dedicated library section aligns with NIIT University’s broader mission to promote lifelong learning, academic inquiry, and innovation. It is intended to serve as a resource hub for students and faculty engaged in interdisciplinary research and knowledge exploration.

The event concluded with a walkthrough of the space, offering attendees a first look at the facilities and available resources.
