TALF Invited Talk Report

On April 11, 2025, The Asian Lenses Forum (TALF) at NIIT University hosted an insightful guest talk titled “Jambudvipa – The Planet Earth in the Puranas”, delivered by Mr. Ganesh Swaminathan. Held in the university auditorium from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the session saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 attendees, including students and faculty.

Mr. Swaminathan discussed the concept of Jambudvipa as portrayed in the Puranas, offering a compelling look at ancient Indian interpretations of cosmology and geography. Drawing from mythological texts, he connected traditional worldviews to broader cultural and philosophical narratives.

The talk encouraged reflection on India’s rich textual heritage, emphasizing the relevance of ancient knowledge systems in understanding human perspectives on the Earth and universe. It was both thought-provoking and culturally enriching.

The session was coordinated by Dr Ratika Kaushik, TALF Faculty Coordinator supported by TALF student members Himadri Bahuguna, Tanvi Yadav, Tanisha Sharma, and Divay Gupta.
