Academic Visit by Prof. Usha Borkar at NIIT University
NIIT University hosted Prof. Usha Borkar from February 3 to February 5, 2026, for a structured academic visit aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and fostering academic engagement.
Prof Borkar, an experienced academician associated with Hansraj Jivandas College of Education, with over 27 years of teaching experience, was awarded the Principal K. M. Kundnani Gold Medal for securing first rank in the University of Mumbai (M.Ed.), along with the Jamunabai Govindji Madhavji Prize for her PhD in Education focused on cooperative learning strategies. She is also a recipient of the IASCE Elizabeth Cohen Award for Outstanding Thesis and the NCERT National Award for Innovative Practices in Education for her work in web-based collaborative pedagogy. She has contributed extensively as a teacher educator across various education programs.
The visit included a campus interaction followed by a detailed discussion with Prof (Dr) Vijay V Mandke, focusing on academic development, strategic initiatives, and potential areas of collaboration. A faculty interaction session brought together members from multiple disciplines, encouraging academic dialogue and the exchange of ideas.
Prof. Borkar also met with Prof (Dr) Vandana Suhag, Provost and Prof (Dr) Parimal Mandke, Vice President, NIIT University, to discuss institutional growth and future academic directions. A notable highlight of the visit was the planting of a sapling, symbolising sustainability and long-term collaboration.
The visit concluded successfully, contributing to strengthened academic relationships and meaningful institutional engagement at NIIT University.
