Internal Smart India Hackathon 2025
About the Event
The internal hackathon at NIIT University was conducted from 20th September to 26th September 2025. The event was organized by the CIIE (Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Excellence) and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The event was a brilliant showcase of innovation, teamwork, and dedication. The participants’ enthusiasm and the innovative solutions presented at the hackathon were truly impressive and inspiring.
Total 20 teams including 117 students participated in this hackathon.
Winning teams are now going to represent NIIT University in the prestigious Smart India Hackathon event to be organized by Ministry of Education.
Main Purpose of Smart India Hackathon
The Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative aimed at fostering innovation, creativity, and problem-solving among Indian youth. Its primary objectives are:
- Promoting innovation: To encourage young innovators to develop innovative solutions to various challenges faced by India.
- Skill development: To provide a platform for participants to showcase their technical skills and learn from experts.
- Networking: To facilitate networking among participants, mentors, and industry professionals.
- Problem-solving: To address real-world challenges through innovative solutions.
- Product development: To potentially lead to the development of new products and services.
By providing a platform for young innovators to collaborate and showcase their skills, the Smart India Hackathon aims to contribute to India’s technological progress and development.
Problem Statements and Proposed Solutions
Team INDIGOW(SIH25004):
Developed an offline AI-powered breed recognition system for the Bharat Pashudhan App, enabling real-time cattle/buffalo identification and improving livestock data accuracy, farmer empowerment, and policy-making.

Team Quantum Mavericks:(SIH25010):
Built a Crop Advisory System with a chatbot and dashboard that offers real-time, data-driven recommendations to help farmers improve yield and resource use.

Team Origin(SIH1597):
Proposed “BloodZy,” a centralized platform for real-time blood inventory tracking, donor engagement, fraud prevention, and efficient blood delivery.

Team !Error 404 (SIH25027):
Designed a Hyperledger Fabric-based blockchain system for tracking Ayurvedic herb provenance, ensuring authenticity, transparency, and regulatory compliance.

Team FasalAI (SIH25030):
Combines satellite imagery and AI to provide soil, weather, and market insights, helping farmers make better crop and sales decisions for higher income.

Team Clean and Green (SIH25014 & SIH25060):
Developed sensor-equipped waste monitoring systems with ML and IoT for smart segregation, real-time tracking, and citizen engagement to improve urban cleanliness.

Team Emolator (SIH25131):
Created an AR-based speech-to-emotion captioning app for hearing-impaired users, enhancing emotional context with real-time transcription and expressive visuals.

Team Tech Turtles (SIH1357):
Built a real-time sentiment analysis system for social media, enabling better brand monitoring, crisis management, and public opinion analysis.

Team 404 Not Found (SIH1477):
Introduced ROSA, an AI-powered road safety assistant that detects animals, potholes, and accidents, and suggests safer routes to reduce fatalities.

Team Elytra (SIH25035 & SIH25114):
PS1: Developed a sentiment analysis dashboard for e-consultation comments.
PS2: Built AI-powered smart glasses to assist visually impaired users with real-time object and text recognition.

Team Generik (SIH25034):
Created an AI-based internship recommendation engine for the PM Scheme, offering personalized, localized, and accessible listings to students.

Team Syntax Error (SIH25104):
Built a multilingual chatbot to assist students with campus queries, reducing administrative load and improving accessibility across languages.

Team Savior (SIH25047):
Developed lightweight surveillance drones with live-streaming and edge analytics to enhance emergency response and situational awareness.

Team Zentra (SIH25015 & SIH25010)
PS1: Built a smart pesticide system that targets only infected crops using ML.
PS2: Created an offline-first app for disease detection and farming assistance with voice and image inputs.
Team Kvyast (SIH25083):
Designed a multilingual USSD and chatbot healthcare system for migrant workers, ensuring accessible medical guidance and centralized records.

Team Verida.AI (SIH1671):
Developed a lightweight AI-based face verification system for Aadhaar to detect spoofing attempts using real-time passive and active liveness checks.

Team Ableware (SIH25114):
Built a neuro-sensor smart cap and glasses with AI-powered assistance for physically and visually impaired users, offering emotion, voice, and vision support.

Team Aarunya (SIH25035):
Developed a web platform to classify public feedback from government consultations into categories like sarcasm, abuse, and encouragement for better policy insights.

Team Pragati (SIH25041):
Proposed an AI-driven system using QR codes for tracking railway track fittings, improving infrastructure management and maintenance accuracy.

Team Aglosphere (SIH25033):
Built an AI-based internship allocation engine that matches students to opportunities using resume data, enhancing placement efficiency and employability.

Dr Vikash Kumar has earned his MTech and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, India. He specializes in synthesizing nanostructured materials.

Dr Arshpreet Kaur is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in Mathematics and Basic Sciences at NIIT University. She has obtained her academic degrees from Panjab University, Chandigarh and Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. Her current research interests include Optimization Theory, Nonlinear Optimization and Nonsmooth Optimization.

Dr Gurendra Nath Bhardwaj has more than 25 years’ experience in academia and industry. He has presented or published more than 100 research papers with undergraduate and postgraduate students at various platforms of national and Int. international repute.

Dr. Jetendra Joshi is an Assistant Professor, Electronics & Communications Engineering, NIIT University (NU) He has more than 5 years’ experience in teaching and research. Prior to joining NU, he worked at the CRCS Centre (R&D Lab) and made significant contributions to the design of the system and its integration in the Embedded and IoT domains. He has published a number of research articles in conferences and reputed journals.

Dr Rohit received his PhD (CSE) from SPSU, Udaipur in 2019, MTech from JNU in 2011 and BE (Computer Engineering) from Rajasthan University in 2007. He has published more than 30 papers in peer reviewed journals and conferences of national and international repute with publishers like IEEE, ACM, Springer, Elsevier, etc.

Dr Rucilekha completed her PhD from the Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. Her research focused on developing affective and cognitive computing frameworks using machine learning and deep learning techniques.

Prof (Dr) Shakti Kundu is with the Computer Science and Engineering area at NIIT University. He has more than 17 years of teaching experience during which he has guided three PhD candidates.

Supratik Banerjee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIIT University (NU). His thrust research area includes Information-centric Networking and 5G Networks.

Shreyansh Sharma is a PhD research scholar at IIT Jodhpur specializing in biometric security, blockchain-based authentication systems, and immersive AR/VR technologies.
