Guest lecture by Prof. Jayant Khandare

On 9th March 2019, the AMI (Association of Microbiologists of India) chapter at NIIT University had a guest lecture delivered by Prof. Jayant Khandare, MD, Actorious Innovations and Research Pvt Ltd., Pune, India. The topic of discussion brought forward by Prof. Khandare was ‘OncoDiscover Liquid Biopsy Technology in Detecting Cancer Metastasis’. He started his lecture with global cancer statistics (2018), according to which the global cancer burden has risen to 18.1 million cases and 9.6 million cancer deaths. He gave us a vivid view of proprietary technology, for detection and enumeration of circulating tumor cells in peripheral blood, called the OncoDiscover CTC Liquid Biopsy Technology. This platform is designed for specific targeting, rapid isolation and high-resolution imaging of cancer cells. OncoDiscover is a novel and efficient platform for detection of Circulating Tumour Cells (CTC) from peripheral blood of cancer patient. The lecture was attended by Dr. Narayan Kumar, President, AMI-Local Chapter, Dr. SoumyaDeep Chakraborty, Dr. Utkarsh Raj, Ms. Katyayani Agarwal, General Secretary-AMI, Local Chapter, executive members of AMI-Local chapter, B.
