TALF Event

The Asian Lenses Forum presented ‘Decoding The Indian Classicals Part 2’ on 27th February 2019, where we tried to unravel the deep lying history of the oldest civilizations of the world, India, through the means of its rich heritage, dance, music, art, and culture. As part of this initiative  by TALF to preserve and revive what we have lost or are on the verge of losing, we had an instrumental performance by one of our young student, Ninad Kanchan. The event commenced with the lightning of diyas by Prof. Debashish Sengupta, Area Head, CSE. Ninad played the Gayatri mantra on his flute with Kawal Singh on tabla.  He then explained about different types of flutes, how to play them & ornamentations of flutes. He even gave a demo on Sargam. Another student, Sheena Gupta, also displayed her magnificent paintings at the event which were admired by everyone. In the end, Ninad mesmerized us with an amazing performance by playing two different types of Indian classical ragas (Bhopali and Yaman) with his flute. It was an amazing session, where the crowd were enthralled by the performers.
