Conversation with Masters: Rajendra S.Pawar and Dr. K Kasturirangan

On 9th October 2020, the students and faculty of NU were invited to attend a discussion amongst two prominent speakers, Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan and Rajendra Singh Pawar. Dr. K Kasturirangan is an Indian space scientist who headed the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from 1994 to 2003 and is now the Chancellor of NIIT University. Mr. Rajendra S. Pawar, Chairman, and Co-Founder of NIIT University is a Padma Bhushan awardee and has worked with various educational institutions.

The topic of discussion was the ‘New Education Policy (NEP) 2020’ which brings in transformational changes to India’s education system. During their discussion, a wide range of topics were covered such as the importance of variety provided by the new education system to the exposure available to students from young ages. They talked about the benefits of the new education policy, focusing on how it changes the perception of arts and humanities in a world of science from a young age. They also talked about the individual impact on students of various ages from middle school to college and how such a system could inculcate an easy transition from schooling to college. They asked each other various questions and challenged each other’s intellect, providing the audience with fantastically crafted answers.

Together, both of their learned minds provided unique perspectives and important points regarding the major change in India’s education system and the benefits this change can lead to. It was a knowledgeable discussion session focusing on the future of India’s youth.
