Celebration of International Yoga Day at NIIT University

NIIT University commemorated International Yoga Day on June 21, 2026 with a gathering of students, faculty, and staff at the Main Lawns from 6:15 AM onwards.

Observed globally since 2015 following its adoption by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, International Yoga Day holds particular significance as it falls on the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, a date proposed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, during his address to the United Nations.

The session at NU was conducted by Ms Arti and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff, reflecting the university’s continued emphasis on holistic well-being alongside academic excellence.

Following the yoga session, participants took part in a collective tree plantation drive, extending the day’s spirit of wellness to environmental responsibility. The event, coordinated under the Office of the Registrar, Dr. Shivendra Mathur, reinforced NU’s commitment to fostering healthy, mindful, and sustainable practices within its campus community.
